TUFTS UNIVERSITY, Medford, Massachusetts

TUFTS MAGAZINE COVER STORY

This article [pdf] profiles Tufts alumnus Bill Cummings, a commercial developer and philanthropist. His $50 million gift to the university went to the School of Veterinary Medicine, now named after him. I interviewed Cummings at the site of his most noteworthy commercial development: Cummings Center, aka “The Shoe,” in Beverly, Massachusetts. Talking to him about his career led to some interesting revelations—including the source of a mysterious “X” that appeared in the grassy center of a Gloucester, Massachusetts traffic rotary a few decades ago.

ADVANCEMENT COMMUNICATIONS

For Tufts' Annual Fund appeal, I wrote four different self-mailers targeting different non-donor alumni audience segments across all Tufts schools. Demographic and other factors determined which mailing was sent to which segments.

I helped create the maiden issues of two newsletters as contributing writer and editor. Advance is sent to class agents and other alumni volunteers.
